Trump Ed Department invites right-wing groups to influence public education
Save Our Schools Arizona offers this report on the Trump team’s efforts to undermine American public education:
The Trump administration’s US Dept. of Education (US ED) announced a new MAGA-driven “patriotic education” curriculum initiative that it plans to force into classrooms across America. This is being pushed by a civics education coalition of more than 40 partner groups, all of which are closely aligned with the president’s MAGA, extremist movement — including PragerU, Moms for Liberty, the Heritage Foundation, Turning Point USA, ALEC, the Goldwater Institute, and Stephen Miller’s American First Legal. Now, US ED says it will provide discretionary grants to schools that promote ‘patriotic’ education.”

The National Association of Scholars is on the list. They created the Civics Alliance, which created the American Birthright Social Studies Standards, caused problems in Colorado. David Randall is the Executive Director of Civics Alliance. He is now on the Texas Social Studies Curriculum advisory panel with David Barton, a Truth & Liberty Coalition Board member based out of Woodland Park, Colorado. Jordan Adams is also on that panel. He consults with School Boards for Academic Excellence; they have State partners and are the CEO of Vermillion Ed, which tried to get Pennridge PA school board to adopt Hillsdale 1776.
