It appears one man wants John Rose to be Tennessee Governor: John Rose
While U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn appears to be the favorite to win the GOP nomination for Tennessee Governor, Congressman John Rose is giving her a run for it - with his own money.
Just over 4% of the money Rose has raised and spent for his campaign comes from people not named John Rose.
So, while more than 70% of the funds being spent to elect Marsha Blackburn come from out-of-state, more than 95% of the money being spent to convince voters to choose Rose comes from his own checkbook.
Rose and Blackburn both support Tennessee’s $300 million school voucher scheme - a plan on track to cost well over $1 billion a year by 2030.
And while it seems clear that out-of-state billionaires want Marsha Blackburn to lead Tennessee, it’s not exactly clear many Tennesseans or people from anywhere else want to see Rose take the state’s top job.
First and second quarter (2026) financial reports show Rose raised just over $9.4 million, with $9 million coming from John Rose.
One notable Rose donor? Former GOP House Speaker Beth Harwell.
