Payday Predators and a Pennsylvania Billionaire Back Blackburn in TN Gov Race
Marsha Blackburn will continue policy of privatizing TN public schools
A pro-voucher Pennsylvania Billionaire is backing Marsha Blackburn in her bid to become the Volunteer State’s next Governor.
Jeff Yass is joined in his support of the pro-Blackburn Team Tennessee PAC by the payday predators over at Advance Financial.
Aside from Advance Financial, the PAC calling itself “Team Tennessee” has little support from anyone in Tennessee.
Yass is the top contributor at $1 million.
Tennessee-based Advance Financial comes in at $100,000.
Other notable donors: The Chicago-based CEO of Jimmy John’s, a billionaire heiress from New York (Margaretta Taylor), and the political action committee of General Motors.
Advance Financial has long been associated with attempts to privatize education in Tennessee by way of school vouchers, with a strong past association with school privatization dark money group Tennesseans for Student Success.
When voters see ads from “Team Tennessee,” they should be aware that those funding it are mostly not from Tennessee and the only “team” they’re on is the one seeking access to hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars to rapidly privatize the state’s schools.
