The meals are now free here in CA. They should be for people that can't afford it everywhere. It wasn't always this way here though and I am glad it is now.
I do not understand the" meanness " of Tennessee legislators to subject young children to such harassment as receiving a substitute lunch. Everyone will know!!
This shouldn't be a question! As one whose parents had a hard time paying for lunches. I took my lunch, very lucky, but so many children don't have parents who can pack the lunch or the means to do so.
No child should go hungry, especially in schools. And they definitely should not be shamed for having a negative balance.
